Welcome to Wanderlusters Sailing Club, the only non-profit teaching club on the Chesapeake Bay.
Wanderlusters is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of the sport of sailing through education, recreation and adventure! We strive to make sailing available to our members at the lowest reasonable cost. Each spring the club conducts a sailing course for new members. The course consists of online reading material, a textbook, plus 20 hours of on-the-water training. Club Handbook Complete club information can be found in the Club Handbook. Initiation (new members) All new members pay an initiation fee of $675.00 which includes 1st year membership plus 20 hours of on-the-water sailing instruction. Additional family members can join at the same time $625. Membership (returning members) Active members pay $125 in annual dues. Active members can coordinate with club captains to charter cruises, improve their sailing skills, and eventually pass the Captain qualifying exam. Club Captains Members who pass a boat handling and qualification exam may choose to accept captain status. Club captains sail the club boats with crew and have the responsibility of collecting and reporting fees for their cruises, as well as handling other responsibilities such as boat maintenance and participation in training and mentoring. Fee Schedule: Each new captain must pay a refundable equity deposit of $200 for one boat and additional $108 to own equity in the second boat. Captains also pay an additional $705 annually toward boat maintenance. Captains pay a usage fee each time they take out a boat. Organization
We are a non-profit corporation registered in Maryland that is completely member run. Members elect an Executive Committee annually. All positions in the club are volunteer positions with no compensation.
